This weekend Colorado will host the 19th annual Telluride Blues & Brews Festival. Nestled in the scenic and world-famous ski town of Telluride, this intimate festival will host a slue of renowned musicians and over fifty microbreweries. Starting Friday afternoon, thousands of attendees will enjoy three-days of tasty brews and great tunes, including Phil Lesh, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood and Little Feat.
Through several green industry partnerships, the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival has managed to create a carbon neutral event that is committed to reducing environmental impacts across the board. From offsetting emissions with Green Mountain Energy Company to composting and recycling efforts coordinated by EcoAction Partners, Blues & Brews is significantly reducing their impact on the environment and the town of Telluride. Solar stage pioneers Alternative Power Productions will also be a part of the festivities.
For only $3.00 Festival-goers can contribute to the cause by upgrading their ticket to a Green Mountain Energy Green Ticket. The funds raised from these ticket sales will be used to offset emissions created by travel to and from Telluride, offsetting the equivalent of 220 pounds of CO2 or driving 245 miles in a car. To date, attendees have purchased over 2,500 Green Tickets.
Telluride Blues & Brews is also a Proud Media Partner of the Global 1% for the Planet Movement. Since 2002, 1% for the Planet has inspired members of the business community to contribute 1% of sales to environmental groups around the world. As part of a new business model created in 2009, 1%FTP has created incorporated Media Partners, such as Blues & Brews, asking them to commit at least 1% of their adverstising to sharing 1% for the Planet with their audiences.
